A while back my check engine light came on.

I had bought a code reader for such occasions, so I could figure out what was wrong and if possible, fix the problem myself.
It said that the O2 sensor had no connectivity, so I popped the hood to see what I could see. Right in my face, the wire had been chewed (above).

It took me some time to get the tools I needed. The weather didn’t help much either, it was either raining or too hot! Initially I tried wrenches, pliers…anything I could get my hands on, to no avail. I ended up having to get an O2 sensor ratchet… and I waited.
The ratchet has a star shaped socket, which I thought I needed a special wrench for it – Advanced Auto couldn’t help me. I ordered what I thought I needed, but it wasn’t right, so I went to NAPA to see if they could help me. The guy looked at me and told me I needed a wrench.
At least he was nice about it.
I worked on replacing the sensor yesterday (July 15) and thought for a hot minute I was going to have to take my car into the shop anyway. I gave it one more try…it popped lose! You don’t know how happy I was! Still am…
So, at long last, I have a new O2 sensor in my car, and fingers crossed I won’t have any more issues with my car for a while. It is old, but hopefully I can breath with a little relief for a little while.
hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!
