Psalm 56: 4
(the Great Bible)
I wyll prayse God, because of hys worde, I haue put my trust in God,
& wyll not feare, what flesh can do vnto me.
translation: I will praise God, because of His word, I have put my trust in God, and will not fear, what flesh can do unto me.
David states that whenever he is afraid, he puts his trust in God. He affirms his faith in God’s word and declares that he will not fear what flesh can do to him, showing his unwavering trust in God’s protection.
Psalm 56 is a deeply moving lament penned by David during a particularly harrowing time in his life when he was seized by the Philistines in Gath. This Psalm oscillates between despair and hope, fear and faith, with David continuously affirming his unwavering trust in God despite his challenging circumstances. This chapter reminds us that even amidst great adversity, we can always place our trust in God’s love and protection.
