When the wicked seem to win

There are days when injustice feels loud
and goodness feels silent.
The wicked prosper, speak curses, and prey on the vulnerable.
Their words are full of deceit
and their hearts overflow with pride.
They lie in wait, convinced that God won’t act.

But this Psalm isn’t just a complaint
it’s a cry for God to rise and bring justice.

When we see the arrogance of evil on display,
Psalm 10 gives us permission to lament.
But it also reminds us that God sees,
God hears, and God will not forget.

The silence of heaven is not the absent of justice,
it’s the patience of mercy waiting to be met
by intercession and action.

So, don’t lose heart when the wicked roar.
Cry out, just like the psalmist did.

God is not blind.
He is not far.
He is preparing to rise.

Psalm 10: 2-7
(1599 Geneva Bible)
The wicked with pride doth persecute the poor;
let them be taken in the crafts that they have imagined.
For the wicked hath made boast of his own heart’s desire,
and the covetous blesseth himself, he contemneth the Lord.
The wicked is so proud, that he seeketh not for God:
he thinketh always, There is no God.
His ways always prosper: thy judgments are high above his sight; therefore defieth he all his enemies.
He saith in his heart, I shall never be moved, nor be in danger.
His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and fraud;
under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
