Acts 17:10-13
(1599 Geneva Bible)
[a]And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea, which when they were come thither, entered into the Synagogue of the Jews.
11 [b]These were also more [c]noble men than they which were at Thessalonica, which received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed, and of honest women, which were Grecians, and men not a few.
13 [d]But when the Jews of Thessalonica knew, that the word of God was also preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and moved the people.

[a] Acts 17:10 That is indeed the wisdom of the Spirit, which always setteth the glory of God before itself as a mark whereunto it directeth [directs] itself, and never swerveth [swerves] from it.
[b] Acts 17:11 The Lord setteth out in one moment, and in one people, divers examples of his unsearchable wisdom, to cause them to fear him.
[c] Acts 17:11 He compareth the Jews, with the Jews.
[d] Acts 17:13 Satan hath his, who are zealous for him, and that even such, as least of all ought.

summary:

Escaping to Berea, Paul and Silas find the Bereans more open-minded, who receive the message eagerly and examine the Scriptures daily. Many believe, including Greek women of high standing and men. However, when the agitated Jews from Thessalonica learn of Paul preaching in Berea, they come and stir up trouble, causing Paul to leave for Athens.

The Noble Bereans
Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true (Acts 17:11). The Bereans exemplify a commendable attitude of eagerness and discernment in studying the Scriptures.

Acts 17 takes us on Paul’s missionary journey through Thessalonica, Berea, and Athens. As Paul brings the Gospel to different cultures, we see a range of responses—from violent opposition in Thessalonica to enthusiastic reception in Berea, and intellectual curiosity in Athens. In the midst of varied reactions, Paul exhibits a remarkable ability to connect with each culture, showing us that the Gospel message can resonate in every context.
