…the door is finished!

Took me long enough to finish it, but I wasn’t in any hurry to get it done either.

When I put the doors up I knew I wanted to do something with the slats – add a little color to them. Just because. Nothing gaudy, nothing girly …just some color.

I started with white Kilz primer paint, then added the colors as I saw fit – metallic acrylic, regular acrylic and interior house paint. One color at a time.

Since I was painting the baseboards at the same time I decided to use brown as well, to kind of tie everything together. I also had to break open the dark yellow (honey) paint to touch up some spots in the dining room and kitchen, so I added that as well.

My son made the comment the other day while we were shopping that he was glad I was getting back into painting again. Not exactly what I went to school for…

…but it does feel good to have a paint brush back in my hand!
