Isaiah 6: 1-7
(Peshitta Holy Bible Translated)
In the year that Uzzia the King died I saw LORD JEHOVAH sitting on a throne, high and exalted, whose robe filled his temple 2 And Seraphim were standing above him, six wings to each of them, with two covering his face and with two covering his feet and with two they were flying
3 And they were calling, this one to that one, and they were saying, “Holy, holy, holy, LORD JEHOVAH of Hosts, for all of the Earth is filled with his praises!”
4 And the doorposts of the door moved by the voice that called, and the house was filled with smoke
5 And I said “Woe to me, for I am overcome with astonishment, because I am a man of defiled lips and I dwell among a people whose lips are defiled, and my eyes have seen The King, LORD JEHOVAH of Hosts!”
6 And one of the Seraphim flew to me, and in his hand he took a coal from the altar with tongs 7 And it touched my mouth and he said to me, “Behold I have brought this to your lips to remove your evil and your sins will be forgiven”

summary:

Verses 1-4:
In the year of King Uzziah’s death, Isaiah witnesses a divine vision of the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, with the train of his robe filling the temple. Seraphim surround the Lord, each with six wings, and proclaim God’s holiness and glory. Their voices shake the foundations of the temple, filling it with smoke.

Verses 5-7:
Struck by the holiness of God and aware of his own sinfulness and that of his people, Isaiah mourns his unworthiness. A seraphim, taking a live coal from the altar with tongs, touches Isaiah’s lips, signifying the purification of his sin.

The Vision of God’s Holiness
Isaiah 6:1-4 describes Isaiah’s vision of the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, with the train of His robe filling the temple. The seraphim call out, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth (Isaiah 6:3). This triple declaration of holiness emphasizes God’s absolute purity and separateness from sin.

Isaiah’s Response to God’s Presence
In Isaiah 6:5, Isaiah is acutely aware of his own sinfulness, declaring, Woe is me, for I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips. This response highlights the natural human reaction to God’s holiness – recognition of our own unworthiness.

Cleansing and Commissioning
Verses 6-7 describe a seraphim touching Isaiah’s lips with a live coal, symbolizing purification. The angel declares, Your iniquity is taken away, and your sin is atoned for (Isaiah 6:7). Following this cleansing, God asks, Whom shall I send? Who will go for Us? to which Isaiah responds, Here am I. Send me! (Isaiah 6:8).

A seraph is a celestial or heavenly being originating in Ancient Judaism.
The term plays a role in subsequent Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
Tradition places seraphim in the highest rank in Christian angelology
and in the fifth rank of ten in the Jewish angelic hierarchy.
A seminal passage in the Book of Isaiah used the term
to describe six-winged beings that fly around the Throne of God
crying “holy, holy, holy”.

Government Shutdown Clock – The White House
…Day 33 – and counting ~ this will be a new part of my posts until the gov opens back up…
The real way to end future government shutdowns: American Thinker …“Each time Washington grinds to a halt, Americans hear the same tired script: Blame the other party, pass a temporary fix, and promise to “work together.”  Yet every few years, the government shuts down again — because the real problem isn’t a lack of compromise.  It’s a lack of character. The federal shutdown is more than a budgeting failure.  It’s a moral mirror reflecting what our politics has become: a tug-of-war between those who believe in limits and those who believe that limits are the enemy. The conservative instinct still values stewardship and restraint.  It assumes that freedom requires discipline and that prosperity cannot outpace responsibility.  The progressive instinct, by contrast, equates compassion with spending and power with virtue.  When conservatives talk about cutting waste, the left hears cruelty.  When conservatives insist on borders and balanced budgets, progressives call it intolerance.  And when conservatives try to negotiate civilly, their civility is mistaken for weakness. Modern politics runs on brute leverage, not shared virtue.”
