Government Shutdown Clock – The White House
…Day 39 – and counting ~ this will be a new part of my posts until the gov opens back up…

Senate to remain in session until shutdown deal is struck, Thune says: the hill …“Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told reporters on Saturday that senators will remain in session until a deal is unlocked to reopen the government as the shutdown reached Day 39 with members still far from an agreement. When asked if lawmakers will stay in town until a deal is reached, Thune responded in the affirmative. The upper chamber was scheduled to be out of Washington for recess around Veterans Day, but will instead be in session. Thune spoke as the Senate convened for a rare Saturday session after the path toward a deal took multiple turns on Friday.”

hope you have a great day!

GOP Lawmaker Proposes ‘MAMDANI Act’ to Block Federal Funds to NYC after Election of Socialist Mayor: Breitbart …“A House Republican lawmaker is set to propose a bill that would block federal funds to New York City for as long as democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani is mayor. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) is spearheading the “Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act,” or the “MAMDANI Act,” Fox News first reported. The bill is two pages and states that “notwithstanding any other provision of law, during any period in which Zohran Mamdani is mayor of New York… any unobligated Federal funds available” for the city “are hereby rescinded” and that “no Federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose to New York, New York.” The bill is expected to be introduced on Friday, according to the report.  Socialist Muslim Mamdani, 34, won the New York City mayoral race on Tuesday, beating former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an Independent, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.” (While the act has been introduced, it is not anticipated to pass in the House. It serves more as a political statement than a viable legislative proposal. – search assist)
