The truth about shari’a ‘law’
~ let’s talk religion ~

…a 34 minute video

“What is Sharia law, really? In this video, we break down the meaning of Sharia, explain where it comes from, and discuss some of the most misunderstandings you’ve probably heard online.” (let’s talk religion)

Corrections: – I probably overstated the unusual nature of modern day Iran by calling it “unheard of”, rather than simply pointing out that it is highly unusual and not the norm. The specific form of government in Iran is indeed unheard of historically, but there have been examples where the highest political/secular leader has also been the highest religious authority, such as in Fatimid Egypt or some of the Zaydi shia states. The early caliphs of proto-sunnism (rashidun & umayyad mainly) also had a high level of religious authority, which was later stripped from them.

from the video…

Each religion has its own sets of Sharia, rules or guidelines to live a more divine, or more holy/moral, life. Most of us just don’t see it that way.

In a way, it makes sense to want a sort of sharia – if you get in trouble with the law you would want a jury of your peers. It wouldn’t be fair to have a jury that doesn’t reflect your beliefs – hence “a jury of your peers”. A Christian would want at least a couple of Christians on the jury. The same goes for any religion.

The problem comes that we in the west have been propagandized, to a degree. The Taliban and/or Muslim Brotherhood have made all Muslims look bad. It’s not really fair to paint all Muslims with a broad brush – or any religion, really. Radicals make everyone look bad, and turns everyone against everyone else.

Having said all that, and I’ve mentioned this before…religion does nothing but divide. Yeshua, the Messiah, didn’t preach religion. He preached love, repentance.

…a one hour video

From what I’ve learned over time, most Muslims are peaceful and don’t really cause trouble. I’ve known a couple over the years. When you hear about Muslims beheading Christians, it’s former Muslims that have converted to Christianity that are being targeted. Radical Muslims might be different, but for the most part this seems to be the case.

I’m not advocating for Islam, I don’t advocate for any religion. We should know that by now. Religion does nothing but divide, control and cause hatred.

hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!
