Live a balanced life
– learn some and think some
and draw and paint and sing
and dance and play and work every day some.

Something I’d been working on off and on throughout the summer. I was originally going to put the plexiglass in a frame, but I broke a corner of the glass while trying to get it in – so I brainstormed.
Considering that I made a frame for the summer screen, I figured I could do the same with this.
I glued the two pieces back together, then started painting it. I used acrylic paint for the “background” then spraypainted overtop.

The inside looks like crap, which is why I put the other side on the outside.
I intended to use magnets to hold the window in place, but they’re not strong enough – so I used Velcro. Which actually works out, because I was using Velcro for the summertime screen.
I do plan on painting the wood strip, but that will have to wait until spring at this point. It’s getting too cold.

For the “screen” I glued an old pillowcase to the wood frame. For the plexiglass I only needed the wood piece for the top, since the piece of glass pits pretty snug. I do have some weatherstripping on both pieces, to fill in some gaps.
When my ex was still living here the mower flung a rock and cracked the original plexiglass. When he saw it and I told him a rock had done that he didn’t believe me. There was no way a bird did that! I don’t have a photo of it, but it was a pretty good crack. He never fixed it before I kicked him out, so I took matters into my own hands.
It’s probably a temporary fix, but it works for now.
