This isn’t going to be fun! I’m trying not to complain because I know the upper Midwest is going to be and has been brutal! And south of me is supposed to be getting a lot of ice/freezing rain. Where I’m at in MD is mostly snow, so for that I am grateful. I’d rather deal with snow than ice/freezing rain.

COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM FRIDAY TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY

WHAT

Very cold wind chills of 10 to 15 below expected.

WHERE

Portions of north central and western Maryland, northwest Virginia, and eastern and panhandle West Virginia.

WHEN

From 8 PM Friday to 10 AM EST Saturday.

IMPACTS

The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

… I’m sure the temperatures will change as time goes by, at least I’m praying they do. Those are feirenheit temps. 24F to Celsius is -4.44. That’s the actual temperature, not factoring in wind-chill.

And to top it off, they’re calling for over a foot of snow here. It could be worse, we could be getting inches of ice! Which is what they’re calling for to the south of me.

I’m bringing in as much firewood as possible, with more on the porch, so I don’t have to go outside except to feed Bobtail and the birds. Sunday or Monday we will be shoveling snow, we have the clothing for it. IF everything pans out the way they’re for casting
