Zachary (Zechariah) 2:3b-5
(Matthews Bible)
Then went there out another angel to meet him, and said unto him: Run, speak to 4 this young man, and say: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without any wall, for the very multitude of people and cattle, that shall be therein: Yea I myself (sayeth the LORD) will be unto her 5 a wall of fire round about, and will be honoured in her. O 6 get you forth, O flee from the land of the north, sayeth the LORD, ye whom I have scattered in to the four winds under heaven, sayeth the LORD.

summary:

Another angel intercepts, telling the first to run back and announce that Jerusalem will be an unwalled city because of the great number of people and livestock that will live there. The LORD Himself will be “a wall of fire around her, and… the glory within her”. Physical walls will be unnecessary; God will be the city’s protection and splendor.

Practical Life Applications
• God’s plans surpass human measurements; trust Him when your resources look small.
• Security depends on His presence, not visible defenses. “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
• Leave any “Babylon” that entangles you—habits, environments, or alliances that dull your devotion.
• Know your worth: you are the apple of His eye. This fuels confidence and holy living.
• Expect a wide family of faith; welcome believers from every background, as nations join themselves to the LORD.

Divine Protection
In Zechariah 2:5, God declares, For I will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it. This promise highlights God’s protective presence and His commitment to safeguarding His people.

Practical Applications:
Trust in God’s Protection
Just as God promised to be a wall of fire around Jerusalem, we can trust Him to protect us in our daily lives.

Respond to God’s Call
Like the exiles called to return to Zion, we should be willing to leave behind anything that hinders our relationship with God and move towards His promises.

Value Our Identity in Christ
Understanding that we are the apple of His eye should encourage us to live confidently in our identity as God’s beloved children.

Seek God’s Presence
Actively pursue a deeper relationship with God, knowing that He desires to dwell among us and within us.

Zechariah 2 presents a vivid prophecy, relayed through a series of divine visions. As Zechariah interacts with angels and contemplates future events, he receives reassurances about God’s protection, the promise of Zion’s restoration, and the divine judgment that awaits the oppressors of God’s people.

hope you have a great day!
thanks for stopping by!!
