The narcissist tells a lie and people nod.
They sound confident.
They appear calm.
They tell their story with certainty and charm.
The victim tells the truth —
and suddenly everything is questioned.
Your tone is scrutinized.
Your memory is doubted.
Your emotions are used against you.
Your sanity and motives are picked apart.
People ask why you’re upset instead of why you were hurt.
They focus on how you said it, not what happened.
They listen to the performance instead of the pattern.
Because lies delivered with confidence are easier to accept than truths delivered with pain.
And that’s one of the cruelest parts of narcissistic abuse:
the harm happens quietly,
but the disbelief happens loudly.
Still, truth doesn’t need applause to be real.
And one day, clarity catches up —
even if validation never does.
