Like any leader, there are things I agree with and things I don’t. That’s not my real concern…

My real frustration is with the so-called Christian voices surrounding political power who claim to represent the church. This isn’t just about Israel, it’s about any government.

Because nowhere in Scripture are Christians commanded to blindly support a government, any government, when it acts in corruption.

Not Rome
Not Israel
Not America

Our allegiance has always been to Christ first.

I love Israel as a land
I love Israel as a nation
And I love the people who live there

But acting like Christians cannot question political actions or policies coming from any nation, including Israel, is absurd.

The covenant God made with Abraham was a land covenant and a redemptive promise that ultimately pointed to the Messiah. It was never a command for Christians to defend every decision of a modern political government thousands of years later.

And here’s what frustrates me even more…

The spiritual voices being platformed around power often represent the worst of American Christianity.

Recently the Senior Advisor for the White House Faith Office stood on a stage and said she would not lay hands and pray for people until $100,000 had been given in the offering for that service.

Let that sink in!

You can’t pray for people until the money goal is reached? That is the exact type of behavior Jesus flipped tables over in the temple. Yet these are the types of voices being elevated and representing “Christianity” to the world. They are the prosperity gospel crowd. The hyper-charismatic celebrity pastors. The ones who treat the presence of God like a fundraising tool.

Imagine if the people surrounding political leaders were men who actually preach repentance, holiness, and the authority of Scripture.

Imagine if instead of the prosperity circuit, leaders were listening to voices like the late Voddie Baucham or Philip Anthony Mitchell, men known for opening the Word of God and calling people to true discipleship.

The church has to stop confusing political access with spiritual authority. Just because someone has proximity to power does not mean they speak for Christ.

Our hope has never been in presidents, nations, or political alliances. Our hope is in a King whose kingdom is not of this world.

And when the church forgets that, we stop being prophetic voices… and start becoming political mascots.
