Yes, that’s ice in the aquarium!

My dad taught me to do this many, many years ago. Even the fish need to keep cool. What I didn’t know or realize is that the fish would go up into the container. So of course I had to snap a photo.

Because I don’t have ac, during heat waves I put ice in the fish tank a couple times a day. If there’s no electricity, take a straw and stir the water every once in a while.

When you don’t have ac, you learn a few tricks.

The ice does have fish food in it, but I don’t always put treats in the water when I go to freeze it. Just sometimes.

And, another project my son and I are working on…

We’re working on replacing the pump in the toilet – but it got too hot, so we had to call it quits. At least until it cools down a bit.

I am buying a battery-operated fan to put in the window, to help cool things off a bit when we get back to it.

There’s a socket in the bathroom, but it’s by the sink and already has a small desktop fan plugged in to it. An electric fan would just make things a bit difficult.

My parents had this over the toilet cabinet in the bathroom, but I had to take it out to give me more room to work.

The pump I believe is original with the toilet – meaning it’s old!!!! And getting the nut or whatever it’s called off is a pain in the butt. It takes both my son and I to get it apart – I hold the nut with channel locks, my son turns the pump.

The new pump isn’t so hard to put in and take apart – I did it with the main bathroom toilet. It’s getting the old one out that’s hard, and I don’t know why – except that it’s old.

Once this is done I will put a ladder up and try to fix a rotten spot in the ceiling – that my ex allowed to go bad, instead of believing me when I said that the window wasn’t enough. My dad had the small fan in the bathroom to help push the steam and moisture out after showers. But I digress and will go into more detail when I tackle that.

I’ll warn you though, it will probably be a while. Maybe in the fall.
