The dark truth behind the jolly giant
~ mystik manor ~

…a 12 minute video

“We’ve been conditioned to love him, the towering, bearded figure with a booming laugh and a bottomless bag of gifts. From the Ghost of Christmas Present to the Green Giant on our food cans, he is the archetype of the benevolent father. But what if that jolly face isn’t a personality? What if it’s a mask?
“In this video, we pull back the curtain of Victorian fairy tales and look into the raw, blood-soaked soil of the Bronze Age to find the prototype: The Dagda.
“Modern scholars call him the “Good God,” but in ancient Irish, “Good” didn’t mean kind, it meant proficient. He wasn’t a father; he was a master of utility, a cosmic technician of the physical realm, and the architect of the Great Reset.”

Nuckelavee

(pinterest)

One of the most feared beings in Scottish folklore,
a skinless horror blamed for plague, famine, and death.

~ its origins are rooted in the windswept Orkney Islands, where tales of this grotesque creature once kept entire communities in fear
~ its name may derive from Old Norse roots, echoing the islanders’ Viking heritage, blending Norse sea spirits with Gaelic demonology~
~ islanders believed this abomination to be the very embodiment of the destructive power of the sea when unchecked by the forces of balance
~ a benevolent spirit known as the “Sea Mother” was the only being that could restrain the Nuckelavee: the sea monster represented calm seas, fertile coasts, and mercy from the ocean’s fury, during her watch, the monster remained imprisoned beneath the waves. But in winter, when the Sea Mother’s power weakened, the Nuckelavee was free to roam the land, spreading terror until the spring thaw
~ Nuckelavee’s breath was said to wither crops, dry rivers, and poison livestock
~ Epidemics among cattle were blamed on its presence, and poor harvests were linked to its invisible passage
~ sailors swore storms bore its mark, while farmers saw it as the cause of famine
~ the Nuckelavee symbolized not just physical destruction but the fragility of life in the Orkneys, where dependence on weather and sea was absolute
~ despite its terrifying form, folklore provides a sliver of hope: the Nuckelavee could not cross fresh water – streams, rivers, and lochs were barriers against its pursuit, much like many other Celtic water spirits
